Jodie Szlachta has been selected to run for the Haverford School Board because she is passionate about education, especially in the public schools in her local community. She believes that the board’s job is to facilitate the best educational experience for a diverse student body, helping each student to discover and grow their areas of interest to maximize their academic, athletic, and artistic potentials, in a socially responsible community.

Szlachta brings a depth of experience in curriculum development, school administration, policy development, budget development, and classroom teaching. She is the Program Director of the Crozer-Chester medical Center/Villanova University Nurse Anesthesia Program, a Master’s Degree program for advanced practice nurses. In this role, she teaches coursework as an Adjunct professor at Villanova University, develops and evaluates the curriculum for the program, maintains program accreditation and budget, and maintains a clinical practice as a staff nurse anesthetist at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

Jodie also has 6 years of experience as a board member and committee chairperson on the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthetists and will serve as President of the organization this year. In this role, she has gained experience and insight about professional advocacy, continuing professional education for members, the legislative process related to issues relevant to advanced practice nurses, and the structure and function of board procedures.

Jodie and her husband live in the Llanerch section of Havertown in the old St Andrews church, which they renovated as their residence. Their 12-year-old and 13-year-old daughters attended Chatham Park Elementary School and are both students at the Haverford Middle School.
